Just down the road from my flat are the ruins of Klaros and Notion.
Of the latter, situated right next to the ocean upon a hill, not much remains, but of the former, there is still a lot to see.
Again, these ruins are free to enter and pretty much in the same condition as at the time of their being discovered.
Klaros contains the Temple of Apollo and served as a prophecy center, oracle, and a sanctuary to Apollo during the Hellenistic and Roman eras. In the fourth century, heaps of people came here to consult the Oracle, even though Ephesus was just down the road.
I really enjoyed taking a break here over a couple of beers.
